The Grand Opening of Cunha Bazaar

The Cunha Bazaar, Authentic Macau (The Newest Culture Creative Store), was recently inaugurated on Friday, September 23rd. It is a collaborative effort between The Choi Heong Yuen Bakery and Macau Creations. The cooperation between these two very distinct companies is the realization of our motto “Inspire Culture, Brand Creatively”.

Established in 1935, Choi Heong Yuen Bakery has embarked once again on the creative frontier. This renewed outlook attempts to combine the principles of tradition and innovation to inspire fresh perspectives from both. The spirit of Choi Heong Yuen that drives this veteran company is unrivaled.

Macau Creations finally opened its flagship store on July, 2010. It is the largest privately owned creative brand in Macau. Each product contains the professional artwork of talented artists. There is also an art exhibit located downstairs. Its purpose is to allow the public to appreciate the artworks in full and to further the understanding of Macau’s creativity.

The Cunha Bazaar is where tradition meets creativity. Whether you are engulfed by the sumptuous aromas, or taken aback by the crisp sweet tastes, or lost in the fascinating worlds depicted in the artwork, the Cunha Bazaar is truly an experience for the senses.

The almond cake is a signature pastry of the Choi Heong Yuen Bakery. The recipe has taken over 80 years to perfect and now the almond cake has become a thing of tradition. Macau Creations is a pioneer in the local creative industries. More than anything else, this young company strives to keep the spirit of culture alive. The cooperation between these two complementary establishments sets the stage for innovation and tradition.

The Cunha Bazaar is located on Cunha Street in Taipa, Macau. The outmost wall of this four-storey building is hand-painted with the traditional colors of Macau. It is situated near the latest landmark of Cunha Street and is something very new yet preserves the same local essence.

Stepping through the doors, you instantly feel immersed in Choi Heong Yuen’s eighty-year-old history as you walk along a life-sized antique board game. You can easily spot the impact the food and beverage industries have had on Macau’s development.

On the 1st floor, our lively and naughty Soda Pandas disguise themselves to give folks a nostalgic feeling of the ‘60s and ‘70s, and turns the clock back to a simpler time when beauty was found in the little things.

Macau Creations is on the 2nd floor. Its largest influences are Macau’s unique heritage and its local flavors, both of which are used as driving forces behind the brand. Any gift you pick up here is filled to the brim with local talent. Each product is infused with artwork and each artwork is narrated by Macau’s history. Anything you take away is both a creative product and a part of Macau.

Top of Cunha is on the 3rd floor. We have set up a quiet place to relax and appreciate artwork on the topmost floor. Different styles of art surround you while you drift away from the troubles of everyday life. Take a load off, relax, eat an almond cake and just enjoy your stay!

When traveling through Cunha Bazaar’s time tunnel, you will notice that each colorful floor was designed with a great amount of detail to provide a truly unique experience. Here, vintage brands are made up of tradition and trend. There’s food, fun and games to enjoy and an endless variety of artful things!

Choi Heong Yuen Bakery and Macau Creations work together to integrate culture and history. Using these resources, we have created something we hope will be a truly unique place. Within these walls we will tell a new tale of this city’s oldest secrets.
